COVID-19 New Cases 18,752... 5,000 More Than a Week Ago

On the 5th, approximately 18,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight, 18,752 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 31,251,203. The number of new cases on this day is 1,394 fewer than the previous day (20,146).


Compared to a week ago on the 28th of last month (13,791 cases), the number increased by 4,961, and compared to two weeks ago on the 21st of last month (13,589 cases), it increased by 5,163.


Since the indoor mask mandate was lifted, the number of confirmed cases has generally been on the rise. The government emphasized that while the current situation is not a cause for concern, adherence to basic quarantine guidelines remains important.


From the 29th of last month to this day, the daily new cases over the week were 14,808 → 13,610 → 5,772 → 15,736 → 20,193 → 20,146 → 18,752, averaging 15,573 cases per day.


Among the new cases on this day, 38 were imported cases, and 18,714 were domestic community transmissions. As of midnight, the number of critically ill patients hospitalized was 141, three more than the previous day.


There were 6 deaths reported the previous day, one fewer than the day before. The cumulative death toll stands at 34,518, with a cumulative fatality rate of 0.11%.
