Gurye-gun Benchmarks Advanced Sites in Danyang, Chungbuk Through Field Study

Study Tour of Advanced Sites to Revitalize Tourism and Sports Industries

On the 25th of last month, Gurye-gun in Jeollanam-do announced that it visited Danyang-gun in Chungbuk with about 30 related officials to explore ways to revitalize the tourism and sports industries and conducted benchmarking of excellent cases in advanced areas.

They toured major tourist attractions in Danyang-gun, which has a natural environment similar to Gurye, including Mancheonha Skywalk, Suyanggae Light Tunnel, Dodamsambong, and Danuri Aquarium, the largest freshwater fish ecology center in Korea.

They also had in-depth discussions on the development plans for Gurye-gun's tourism resources and held a discussion on ways to revitalize the recently opened 'Jirisan Sky Run' in Gwangui-myeon last month.

The county then visited Gugyeong Market, Danyang-gun's representative traditional market selling various foods and health products made from Danyang garlic, exchanging diverse views on promoting the sale of Gurye-gun's specialty products and revitalizing the five-day market.

County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “Sobaeksan Birobong in Danyang and Nogodan in Jirisan, Gurye, as well as the Danyang River and Seomjin River, are very similar, but there were many differences in their utilization. This advanced site visit was a valuable time to share views on various tourism product development plans, and we will continue to actively benchmark excellent cases from advanced sites to establish effective tourism policies.”
