Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced that it held a graduation ceremony for the Baebatgol Merchant Education Program in Seongbuk-gu on April 29 at 3 p.m. at the Baebatgol Alley-type Shopping District Registration Office, in collaboration with Kookmin University (President Lim Hong-jae) LINC 3.0 Project Group.
At the graduation ceremony, 21 merchants from the Baebatgol area in Jeongneung 3-dong, designated as an alley-type shopping district, including Choi Young-chul, president of the merchants' association, and Lee Eun-seok, vice president, wore Kookmin University graduation caps and received their diplomas.
From March 26 to April 29, they had a meaningful learning experience by visiting advanced markets, learning about merchant organizations and their revitalization, receiving store-specific consulting and smart store technology introduction strategies, SNS marketing and practical promotion techniques, and conducting group discussions and presentations on ways to strengthen merchant organizations.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seung-ro, Shin Bong-geun, head of the Market and Commercial Support Team of the Regional Economy Division, Ha Hyun-sang, dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration at Kookmin University (head of the Community Coexistence Center), Professor Kim Sung-il of the Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship and Venture, Seo Jun-kyung, head of Industry-Academic Cooperation (LINC Project Team Leader), Lee Jong-cheol, CEO of JC&Company, and Kim Do-gyun, head of the Korea Small Business Marketing Association Project Group, who shared in-depth opinions on support measures to revitalize the alley-type shopping district.
In his congratulatory speech, Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seung-ro encouraged the merchants of the Baebatgol Merchants' Association who studied hard despite their busy daily lives and stated that he would take practical measures and provide support to revitalize alley-type shopping districts such as Baebatgol, which play an important role in the local economy.
Ha Hyun-sang, dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration at Kookmin University (head of the Community Coexistence Center), also said, “We will support the revitalization of alley-type shopping districts in connection with Seoul City Campus Town in the future and do our best to ensure mutual growth between the university and the local community.”
Meanwhile, Baebatgol is the southern lower village across the large road crossing Jeongneung 3-dong in Seongbuk-gu. Since forming the Baebatgol Merchants' Association in 2022 and being designated as an alley-type shopping district by Seongbuk-gu, it has been working with Kookmin University LINC 3.0 Project Group, Campus Town Project Group, Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship and Venture, and others to promote regional cultural development and restore the local community.
