Gwangjin-gu to Operate Disaster Safety Comprehensive Situation Room from the 2nd... For Prompt and Effective Response in Case of Emergencies

Real-time Monitoring of 3,480 CCTVs, Establishment of Advanced Systems Including Disaster Safety Communication Network

Reinforcement of Personnel with Day and Night ‘Disaster Response Officers’, Full Effort on Situation Dissemination and Initial Response

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) opened the ‘Disaster Safety Comprehensive Situation Room’ on the 2nd, dedicating full efforts to the safety of residents 24 hours a day, year-round.

The newly reorganized situation room was established to respond quickly and systematically to increasingly complex and diverse disasters. By operating a continuous system, it detects risk factors in real time and initiates immediate initial response measures. Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, it has strengthened crisis management functions and improved efficiency.

First, the entire disaster response system was newly revamped. A network was established to allow real-time access to 3,480 CCTVs installed throughout the area at any time. Additionally, with the Geographic Information System (GIS)-based ‘Smart Control Gwangjin,’ detailed and accurate location tracking is possible, enabling rapid arrival at the scene. In the second half of this year, the ‘Smart Seoul Safety Network,’ which transmits images within a 100-meter radius, is scheduled to be introduced.

Along with this, the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) was additionally secured to activate hotlines. This allows faster sharing of crisis situations with related organizations such as the police, fire stations, and Seoul city. The newly installed video conferencing system is also expected to strengthen the interactive cooperation system.

Furthermore, to ensure efficient situation handling, ‘Disaster Response Officers’ were decisively deployed. They are responsible for real-time disaster information verification, rapid situation dissemination, and initial response. Personnel were reinforced to perform duties 24 hours a day, year-round, and monthly job training will be conducted to enhance their capabilities.

The opening ceremony on the 2nd was attended by Mayor Kim Kyung-ho and other district executives, marking a new start. They thoroughly reviewed the disaster safety situation board and CCTVs comprehensively.

Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “We have officially started operating the Disaster Safety Comprehensive Situation Room with the determination to further strengthen resident safety. Since prompt response is the most important in disaster situations, we will do our best in proactive measures to protect residents’ safety more quickly and flawlessly.”
