The 15th Namchang Onggijonggi Market Unity Festival will be held from the 7th to the 8th at Namchang Onggijonggi Market, the representative traditional market of Ulju-gun, Ulsan City.
Organized by the Namchang Onggijonggi Market Merchants Association, this festival aims to create a space for harmony among market merchants, customers, and local residents, increase interest in using traditional markets, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.
The festival will begin on the 7th at the circular plaza of Namchang Onggijonggi Market with experiential events and celebratory performances. On the 8th, various events such as a commemorative ceremony, performances, singing contest, and prize draws will be held, providing plenty of attractions and entertainment.
The singing contest is open to anyone with an address in Ulsan City, including market merchants and customers.
Those wishing to participate can apply by visiting the Namchang Onggijonggi Market Merchants Association or by phone by 12 PM on Thursday, the 4th.
An Ulju-gun official said, “We hope that this Unity Festival will bring market merchants and local residents together in harmony, leading to further development and revitalization of the market,” and added, “We ask for much interest and visits to Namchang Onggijonggi Market, a traditional market full of various foods and attractions.”
Namchang Onggijonggi Market was established in 1916 as Namchang Market in Onyang-eup, Ulju-gun, boasting a history of over 100 years. It attracts visitors with its representative dishes such as gukbap, the bi-monthly market held on the 3rd and 8th, the Saturday direct transaction market, and the Unity Festival.
