Gyeonggi-do Fire Department prevented major damage through swift initial response, including the issuance of 'Response Level 2 Emergency Alert,' to a fire that broke out at a large logistics warehouse in Anseong in the early hours of the 1st.
According to the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, a fire of unknown cause occurred around 1:35 a.m. at the Seo Anseong Logistics Center in Yangseong-myeon, Anseong-si. Gyeonggi Fire Department arrived at the scene within 3 minutes of receiving the report and, judging the flames to be intense, issued Response Level 1 at 1:50 a.m., mobilizing all personnel from Anseong Fire Station to suppress the fire.
However, considering that the fire involved a large logistics warehouse with a total floor area of approximately 46,000㎡, three stories above ground and two stories underground, Gyeonggi Fire Department issued Response Level 2 around 2:22 a.m., dispatching fire stations from 5 to 6 nearby areas. A total of 216 firefighters and 72 pieces of equipment were deployed to fight the fire.
After a fierce battle lasting about two hours, Gyeonggi Fire Department succeeded in extinguishing the flames at 4:01 a.m. The fire was completely put out by 4:40 a.m., and the emergency alert was lifted.
Due to the fire, a man in his 60s, a logistics center official, inhaled smoke and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, but no other casualties occurred.
A representative from the Fire and Disaster Headquarters said, "Since it was a large logistics warehouse fire, we immediately issued Response Level 2 to mobilize all available personnel and equipment for fire suppression operations and responded swiftly," adding, "Fortunately, Anseong Fire Station conducted a fire prevention consulting session for logistics centers in the jurisdiction last week, which was of great help."
