‘Gangseo Artrium’ Officially Opens on the 3rd, a Project to Relocate Gangseo Cultural Center

Rich Opening Events Including Experience Programs and Young Contemporary Artists Invitational Exhibition
‘Gangseo Artrium,’ a key space representing balanced cultural development in Seoul’s Gangseo-gu and set to elevate the city’s prestige, is opening its doors.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) announced the completion of Gangseo Artrium, a project initiated to relocate the Gangseo Cultural Center, and its official opening on the 3rd.
Construction of Gangseo Artrium began in August 2020. Located at 379-68 Hwagok-dong, it has a total floor area of 4,228㎡ with 2 basement levels and 5 above-ground floors, developed with a total budget of 34.9 billion KRW.
Gangseo Artrium, born from residents’ hopes to relocate the aging Gangseo Cultural Center, is expected to greatly expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment through high-quality cultural performances and programs.
The first floor houses a community space caf? and a flexible gallery capable of hosting various exhibitions. This cultural exhibition space continues the name of the Gangseo Cultural Center’s ‘Gallery Seo.’
The 215-seat performance hall ‘Ari Hall’ on the 2nd and 3rd floors, equipped with high-quality acoustics, is ideal for a variety of performances including musicals (opera), plays, dance, and choir.
The 4th and 5th floors include multipurpose rooms and program rooms for cultural lectures, including dance and music practice rooms, designed to satisfy residents’ cultural activity needs.
The opening ceremony on the 3rd will be attended by about 200 people, including Gangseo-gu Mayor Kim Tae-woo, local cultural association officials, and residents.
The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the facility’s opening, followed by congratulatory performances by the Gangseo-gu Choir and vocalist No Hee-seop.
On the 4th, experience programs commemorating the opening will be held. In front of the entrance on the first floor of Gangseo Artrium, anyone can participate in making mother-of-pearl grip-toks, face painting experiences, and balloon performance shows. Participation in the experience programs requires prior registration.
The special opening exhibition ‘Diversity of Contemporary Art’ will also be held in the first-floor exhibition hall until the 12th. Young contemporary artists who have recently attracted attention?Jo Jin-kyu, Hong Seung-tae, Son Jin-hyung, and Eun Bo-kyung?will experimentally express various forms and themes of contemporary art, captivating the eyes of residents. Admission is free for all.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “The newly opened Gangseo Artrium will serve as a cultural and artistic professional space representing Gangseo-gu, quenching residents’ thirst for cultural life. We expect ‘Gangseo Artrium,’ a professional cultural space representing the local community, to provide residents with diverse opportunities to enjoy culture and become a hub for a culture- and art-rich Gangseo.”

Eight-Week Practical Training for Youth to Obtain National Cosmetologist (Nail) Certification
Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) and Seokyeong University jointly held the opening ceremony for the ‘Seongbuk Youth Beauty Academy Nail Art Class’ on May 26 at Seokyeong University’s Yudam Hall.
This program runs for eight weeks until June 17 to cultivate K-Beauty talent and support youth employment and entrepreneurship.
Participants will undergo practice-oriented training aimed at obtaining the national cosmetologist (nail) certification at Seokyeong University’s College of Beauty Arts, which boasts the largest beauty infrastructure in Korea.
At the opening ceremony, the academy curriculum and procedures for obtaining the national certification were introduced.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, encouraged the participants, saying, “I hope the students acquire beauty skills through this academy and succeed in employment and entrepreneurship. Seongbuk-gu will continue to support youth generously through various policies such as the Gireum Youth Startup Street Revitalization and the ‘1,000 Won Breakfast’ project.”
Park Jin-hyun, Dean of the College of Beauty Arts at Seokyeong University, also congratulated the students, saying, “Congratulations on taking the first step toward becoming nail artists. Seokyeong University will actively support the growth of Seongbuk youth.”
Seongbuk-gu offers the entire academy program free of charge. Additionally, by utilizing Seokyeong University’s beauty network, continuous mentoring and follow-up management will be provided to connect youth with local beauty businesses such as beauty shops and nail salons for employment opportunities.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is hosting the ‘5th Dobong-gu Job Creation Idea Contest’ to create unique jobs reflecting brilliant ideas specific to Dobong-gu, accepting proposals from May 1 to June 9.
The contest categories include ▲Fourth Industrial Revolution-related fields such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Internet of Things (IoT) ▲Public and private job creation (startups and employment expansion) ▲Employment support services (employment education, job training, etc.) ▲Specialized job projects utilizing local resources (historical, cultural tourism, socks, etc.) ▲Other free proposals related to job creation. Any idea related to job creation in Dobong-gu is welcome.
Anyone interested in job creation in Dobong-gu can participate by downloading the application form from the Dobong-gu website (Announcements/Budget → Notices), filling it out, and submitting it either in person to the Dobong-gu Regional Economy Division or via email.
