US Media Introduces Story of 22-Year-Old Siamese Twin Sisters
Older Sister Dates, Younger Sister Is Asexual... They Date Together
A love story of conjoined twin sisters in the United States has drawn attention. They revealed that they go on dates with their boyfriend together because their bodies are connected.
Recently, American media outlets NBC Today and Daily Express reported an interview article with 22-year-old conjoined twin sisters Carmen Andrade and Lupita Andrade.
The sisters, who live in Connecticut, immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. as babies and were born joined from the chest to the pelvis. Because of this, their upper bodies are separate, but they share the lower body including the pelvis, reproductive organs, and legs. Initially, they considered separation surgery, but due to the high risks, they chose to live as one body.
Older sister Carmen said, “At the end of the day, we are tired and don’t want to talk to each other,” and explained their daily life: “I work on my laptop for my studies, and Lupita listens to music with headphones or talks on the phone, doing our own things.” However, the sisters said, “We have been joined all our lives, so we don’t long for independence.”
Lupita revealed that she is asexual, but Carmen has been in a relationship for two and a half years with her boyfriend Daniel, whom she met through a dating app in October 2020.

Carmen said, “I have never hidden the fact that I am a conjoined twin, so I received many messages from men with a kind of fetish (sexual satisfaction from specific body parts or clothing). But I could immediately tell that Daniel was different from others. He never asked me anything about my physical condition.”
Carmen added, “Sometimes I feel sorry to Lupita because I want to spend a lot of time with my boyfriend, but we compromise by letting Lupita choose our dinner menu or decide what to do.”
She continued, “Daniel and Lupita are getting along. I tend to sleep less than Lupita, and when Daniel stays over at our house, if I fall asleep first, Daniel and Lupita talk late into the night.”
Carmen said they have talked about engagement with Daniel but want to try living together first. However, the sisters cannot get pregnant. They are taking hormone blockers to stop menstruation due to endometriosis. Carmen shared, “Instead, I plan to become a dog mom.”
The sisters, who love animals, dream of working in the veterinary field. Carmen wants to be a veterinary nurse, and Lupita wants to be an animal health technician. Lupita also dreams of becoming a comedy writer. Carmen explained, “I talk more, but Lupita is wittier.”
Running TikTok and Instagram accounts to share their stories, the sisters said, “We often get unpleasant questions about how we use the bathroom or about sex,” and urged, “Please remember that we are human beings before being conjoined twins.”
