Strategic Partnership MOU with Rockwell Automation
"Expanding North American Collaborative Robot Market Share"
Doosan is teaming up with the largest industrial automation solutions company in the United States to expand its market share in the collaborative robot market in North America.
On the 25th (local time), Doosan announced on the 30th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a 'strategic partnership' in Washington DC, USA, attended by Moon Hongseong, CEO of Doosan Co., Ltd., Ryu Jeonghoon, CEO of Doosan Robotics, Ed Moreland, Vice President of Rockwell Automation (hereinafter Rockwell), and Lee Yongha, CEO of Rockwell Automation Korea.
Rockwell is the largest industrial automation and information technology company in North America, providing hardware and software used for automating manufacturing facilities in industries such as semiconductors, automobiles, and bio. It operates in more than 100 countries worldwide, with 60% of its sales coming from the North American market.
According to this agreement, Doosan Robotics, a subsidiary of Doosan Co., Ltd., will exclusively supply collaborative robots to Rockwell and cooperate in jointly developing collaborative robot solutions needed for various processes such as automation facilities and smart factories. In addition, the collaborative robot automation solutions developed by both companies will be actively utilized not only in Doosan's domestic and overseas production facilities but also for external orders.

Doosan Robotics is expected to supply collaborative robots to Rockwell's various customers by securing additional smart factory collaborative robot solutions beyond palletizing, welding, machine tending (loading workpieces and unloading finished products), parts assembly, and inspection.
Doosan Robotics, which established its U.S. subsidiary in Plano, Texas, last May and officially entered the North American collaborative robot market, is expected to accelerate sales in the North American collaborative robot market through business synergy with Rockwell, which has a large sales share in the North American market.
CEO Moon said, "Through collaboration with Rockwell, a global leader in industrial automation, we expect to diversify collaborative robot-related solutions and expand opportunities to supply collaborative robots," adding, "By applying these solutions not only to Doosan but also to various production facilities and proving their effectiveness, we will develop new business opportunities for both Doosan and Rockwell."
Since starting mass production of collaborative robots in 2018, Doosan Robotics has maintained the number one market share in the domestic market and has ranked fifth in the global market since 2019. Leading with the largest lineup of 13 products among global collaborative robot companies, it provides various collaborative robot solutions not only for manufacturing but also for logistics, food tech, medical, and other service sectors. Last year, sales increased by about 22% compared to the previous year, reaching 45 billion KRW, with approximately 70% of sales coming from overseas. Sales this year are expected to increase by more than 30% compared to the previous year.
Rockwell Automation is the largest and a global leader in industrial automation in North America. It supplies automation solutions across manufacturing industries such as automotive, semiconductors, warehousing and logistics, food and beverage, and chemicals. Last year, it secured major projects including Hyundai Motor's Georgia electric vehicle (EV) plant, Ford's new production facility, and Samsung Electronics' Taylor foundry plant.
