Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will operate ‘Silver Single Soda (Social Dining)’, supporting the eating habits and social relationship formation of middle-aged single-person households.


Targeting Silver SOLbap care households and middle-aged single-person households who face irregular eating habits and difficulties in forming social relationships, the program offers various themed healthy cooking classes using seasonal, eco-friendly ingredients and communication programs utilizing SNS.


Silver SOLbap is a specialized health project in Eunpyeong this year that supports healthy home-cooked meals for single-person households in need of health care, such as middle-aged and young adults preparing for independence. It was selected for the Seoul City public project ‘Happy Table’, expanding the target participants and the number of sessions.

Silver Single Soda will be held over a total of 7 sessions from May to November. Each session consists of 4 diverse and distinctive cooking classes including seasonal health foods, healing, vacation camping, world holiday foods, and year-end party dishes, plus 1 special lecture.


For participants’ convenience, the venues will be Seoul 50 Plus Western Campus, Yeokchon-dong Community Center, and Seoul Youth Center Eunpyeong Orang.


Recruitment for the 1st session participants starts on May 1 on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted online via the Eunpyeong-gu Single-Person Household Support Center website or by phone to the Family Policy Division.


Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, “We support healthy eating habits through easy and nutritious cooking classes and hope that communication among participants will relieve feelings of isolation, leading to a healthy life both physically and mentally for single-person households.”

Nanum Culture and Arts Association Donates 500,000 KRW Monthly to 7 Local Children’s Centers

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that on the 27th, it held a gratitude event for the Nanum Culture and Arts Association (Chairperson Yoo Hyun-sook), which has been quietly providing regular support to 7 local children’s centers in the district to encourage the dreams and hopes of local children.


The event was attended by Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Gi-jae, Nanum Culture and Arts Association Chairperson Yoo Hyun-sook, and Seoul City Councilor Lee Seung-bok, who helped connect the two organizations.


Since February this year, the Nanum Culture and Arts Association has quietly donated 500,000 KRW monthly to 7 local children’s centers, totaling approximately 10.5 million KRW to date. This benevolent act was arranged by Seoul City Councilor Lee Seung-bok, who has shown special interest in the welfare of children and youth. The association plans to continue its support to promote the happy growth of children and youth in Yangcheon and to participate in spreading a culture of sharing.


The Nanum Culture and Arts Association, a nonprofit corporation established for public interest, conducts social contribution activities in various fields including support for marginalized groups, promotion of culture and arts, nurturing future talents, youth entrepreneurship, and job creation.


Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “I sincerely thank the Nanum Culture and Arts Association for playing the role of a ‘Tall Uncle’ through their quiet sponsorship of local children’s centers and Councilor Lee Seung-bok for his great help in resource coordination. Encouraged by such warm support, the district will also spare no effort to support local children and youth to grow up healthy and bright.”


Meanwhile, Yangcheon-gu has a total of 22 local children’s centers with about 570 registered children. This year, the district is providing over 800 million KRW in district funds for operating expenses, personnel costs, and environment improvement costs for each center, as well as additional operating expenses (400,000 KRW monthly) for rent and meal staff wages, and 500,000 KRW annually for teaching materials and supplies. Furthermore, it supports various cultural experience activities and special aptitude programs to help develop social skills and self-esteem among children and youth using the centers.
