Yangcheon-gu Anyangcheon Haemaru Soccer Field Transformed into Artificial Turf Field

Existing Sand Playground → Artificial Turf Field, Asphalt Base Layer Installed to Prepare for Heavy Rain

Convenience Facilities such as Mobile Net Fences and Benches Installed to Prepare for Flooding

Reservations Accepted on a First-Come, First-Served Basis from May 1 via the District Office Website Integrated Reservation Portal

Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gijae) announced that the ‘Haemaru Soccer Field,’ located under Sinjeonggyo Bridge on Anyangcheon Stream, has been renovated from a sand field to an artificial turf field and will be opened to citizens starting May 1.

The ‘Anyangcheon Haemaru Soccer Field’ was a sand field established in 1996. Due to its aging facilities and dust generation, the creation of an artificial turf field had long been a wish of local soccer enthusiasts. During last year’s refurbishment, the field suffered severe flooding damage caused by record-breaking summer heavy rains not seen in 100 years, and after six months of restoration work, it has now reopened.

The newly renovated soccer field features artificial turf measuring 101m in width and 71m in length, totaling 7,171㎡. An asphalt (Ascon) layer was fully laid beneath the turf to enhance adhesion and prevent separation even during heavy downpours. The soft texture of the artificial turf is also expected to be effective in preventing injuries commonly occurring during soccer matches.

Additionally, considering the frequent flooding in the river area, the district installed mobile net fences around the soccer field, which can be folded up during heavy rain to minimize flood damage to the facilities.

Furthermore, two shade tents and 20 benches were installed around the soccer field to create rest and leisure spaces. A multipurpose field suitable for simple ball games was also prepared to allow easy use by children.

The main users of Haemaru Soccer Field are soccer teams composed of at least 80% district residents or Yangcheon-gu workers. After prior team registration, the field can be used by making reservations on a first-come, first-served basis starting May 1 via the district office website integrated reservation portal. The use of the soccer field is free of charge, and operating hours are Monday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “I sincerely thank the residents who trusted and waited during the long-term flood recovery work at Haemaru Soccer Field. Now that the renovation is beautifully completed and the field is open, we will do our best to attract various competitions and events to contribute to the health promotion and leisure activation of our residents.”
