Choi Ho-kwon, Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor, Attends ‘2023 Seoul Walking Festival’ at Anyangcheon on the Morning of the 29th



Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, attended the ‘2023 Seoul Walking Festival’ held at Anyangcheon on the morning of the 29th.


The event was hosted by the Seoul Yeongdeungpo-gu Sports Council and featured about 500 participants who wore jeans and picked up trash while walking in a plogging event.

Mayor Choi walked in step with the participants, picking up trash and spending time communicating together.


Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “Thank you for participating in the plogging activity that puts the Earth’s environment first despite the cold rainy weather. It was a meaningful time that lightened both body and mind and brought vitality to life while walking and picking up trash together.”



Park Kang-su, Mapo-gu Mayor, Visits Seogang-dong Residents’ Autonomous Association Food Market



Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, visited the Seogang-dong Food Market held for resident harmony ahead of Family Month on the morning of the 29th.


The market was hosted by the Seogang-dong Residents’ Autonomous Association with participation from the Volunteer Camp and Saemaeul Women’s Association, selling warm food and side dishes made on the spot, handmade knitted goods, groceries, and also featured promotional booths such as filial piety meals, providing various district administration information.

In his greeting, Mayor Park Kang-su said, “I thank the Residents’ Autonomous Association for preparing the event and hope many residents come on this rainy spring weekend to enjoy delicious food and sightseeing.”



‘2023 Dongdaemun-gu Youth Participation Organization’ Appointment Ceremony Held

Recruitment through Public Contest and Institutional Recommendation … 39 Children’s Council Members and 19 Youth Participation Committee Members Begin Their Terms



The appointment ceremony for the 5th Dongdaemun-gu Children’s Council and 6th Youth Participation Committee was held at 9:30 a.m. on the 29th in the small auditorium on the 5th floor of the Dongdaemun-gu Youth Center.


Since 2018, the district has established the ‘Children and Youth Policy Participation Organization’ to guarantee children and youth the right to directly express opinions on policies and issues related to them and participate in policy decision-making processes, continuing this to the present in 2023.


This year, from February, 39 Children’s Council members and 19 Youth Participation Committee members were recruited through public contests and institutional recommendations.


At the appointment ceremony marking the start of the new term, appointment certificates, badges, and stoles were presented to the 5th Children’s Council members and 6th Youth Participation Committee members, followed by pledges of commitment from representatives of each participation organization and announcements of this year’s schedule.

Notably, this year two representatives from the children and youth participation organizations directly led the event, making the ceremony even more meaningful.


The ‘Children’s Council’ consists of 39 members including one chairperson and two vice-chairpersons, organized into three standing committees, and plans to actively engage in legislative activities such as proposing child-related policies and promoting child rights protection through standing committee activities and plenary sessions.


The ‘Youth Participation Committee’ is composed of 19 members including one chairperson and one vice-chairperson, and will discover various youth policies through regular meetings, district administration monitoring, and policy proposal contests, then propose the discovered policies to the district.


Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We will do our best to create a child-friendly Dongdaemun-gu so that our children and youth, who are our future, can grow into excellent democratic citizens and live confident and happy lives.”



Jongno-gu and Hwanghae-do Sign Business Agreement for Exchange and Cooperation Projects



Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) signed a business agreement with Hwanghae-do (Governor Lee Ki-chan) on the 28th to promote exchange and cooperation projects.


The two institutions plan to comfort the sorrow of Hwanghae-do residents (North Korean defectors) who left their hometowns in the northern region and support their stable settlement in the local community.

The agreement includes support for various sports events where Hwanghae-do residents can communicate and harmonize, encouragement of exemplary residents with strong security awareness, support for underprivileged neighbors in the area, and participation of Hwanghae-do intangible cultural heritage in cultural events hosted by Jongno-gu.


On this day, Jeong Moon-heon, Mayor of Jongno-gu, received an honorary resident certificate from Hwanghae-do in recognition of his contributions to this agreement.
