Why did university students experience the Coast Guard Special Forces?
On the 28th, 20 students from the Korea Maritime and Ocean University (President Jang Young-su) visited the Special Forces unit of the Namhae Regional Coast Guard in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, to participate in the "I am also a Coast Guard Special Forces" program.
This program is an experiential content designed to help participants understand the Special Forces by experiencing the main duties, equipment operation, and training of the Coast Guard Special Forces.
For the first recruitment of participants by the Namhae Regional Coast Guard, 20 students applied, including 15 students majoring in Police Crime Psychology and 5 students majoring in Marine Sports from Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and the program was conducted on that day.
The students completed all experiences including physical tests, passage clearing and hostage rescue, live ammunition shooting, helicopter rappelling and airborne assault, and patrol on an armored boat, and received a "Certificate of Honorary Special Forces Member."
Student Bae Seok-hyun (3rd year, Police Crime Psychology major), who participated in the program, said, "By directly experiencing the Coast Guard Special Forces training program, which I had only vaguely encountered through TV and other media, I was able to truly realize the role and achievements of the Special Forces."
Professor Ham Hye-hyun (Police Crime Psychology major) said, "I hope that through participating in this experiential program, the students will understand the importance of maritime counter-terrorism duties and that it will serve as an opportunity for them to become future Coast Guard Special Forces members."
