'37 Women Sex Relationship Filming' Resort Chairman's Son... Sentence is 1 Year 10 Months

1st Trial: 2 Years Imprisonment → 2nd Trial: 1 Year 10 Months Imprisonment
"No Legal Misinterpretation in Original Judgment" Appeal Dismissed

The son of a famous golf resort company chairman, who was prosecuted for illegally filming sexual encounters with 37 women, has been sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in prison by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court's 3rd Division (Presiding Justice No Jeong-hee) upheld the original sentence of 1 year and 10 months imprisonment in the appeal trial of Mr. A, who was prosecuted for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (illegal filming and distribution using cameras, etc.), according to multiple domestic media reports on the 28th.

Secretary Mr. B, who was also indicted alongside Mr. A for secretly filming the nudity of three women, had his sentence of 10 months imprisonment with a 2-year probation confirmed, as in the original trial.

In the first trial, Mr. A was sentenced to 2 years in prison, but the sentence was reduced to 1 year and 10 months in the second trial. The court explained the reason, stating, "Mr. A and some of the victims reached an agreement, and the victims expressed that they did not wish for their punishment."

Additionally, Mr. A was sentenced in the first trial to 3 years of personal information disclosure and notification, and a 5-year employment restriction at child and youth-related institutions, but these were exempted in the second trial. The court stated, "Considering the defendant's personality, environment, occupation, nationality, the nature of the crime, and the risk of recidivism, as well as the adverse effects that employment restrictions and personal information notification orders would have on the defendant, it was judged that there are circumstances to exempt the personal information notification and employment restrictions."

Mr. A is known to be the son of the chairman of a large golf resort company located in Gyeonggi-do and holds a director position at the resort. When allegations of illegal filming were raised in the media, he attempted to leave for the United States but was urgently arrested by the police at Incheon International Airport and was detained in December 2021.

Meanwhile, Mr. A was also referred to the prosecution last May on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. It was reported that Mr. A administered ketamine, known to induce hallucinations and frequently abused in sexual crimes.
