Busan Companies Donate 12.75 Billion Won to Support Hosting the 2030 World Expo

Realistic Emotion All the Way to Paris... Final All-Out Battle

Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Ceremony with Representatives of 26 Busan Companies

Busan City will hold a donation ceremony to support the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo at 11:30 a.m. on the 28th at Signiel Busan.

Attending the event will be Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Chairman Jang In-hwa of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman Kang Cheol-ho of the City Council's Special Committee for the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid, along with representatives of Busan-based companies that have raised sponsorship donations for the bid.

Busan Companies Donate 12.75 Billion Won to Support Hosting the 2030 World Expo Busan City Hall.

The sponsoring companies participating in this donation include ▲Nexen Group (Chairman Kang Byung-jung) ▲BNK Busan Bank (President Bang Sung-bin) ▲Sungwoo Hitech (Chairman Lee Myung-geun) ▲Dongwon Development (Chairman Jang Bok-man) ▲Dohil (Chairman Kim Jong-gak) ▲Golden Blue (Chairman Park Yong-su) ▲Kyungdong Construction (Chairman Kim Jae-jin) ▲Lee Jin General Construction (Chairman Jeon Kwang-soo) ▲Sewoon Steel (Chairman Shin Jeong-taek) ▲Corens (Chairman Jo Yong-guk) ▲Hwasung (Chairman Hyun Seung-hoon) ▲Sunbo Unitech (Chairman Kim Cheong-uk) ▲Geumyang (Chairman Ryu Kwang-ji) ▲Samjung Enterprise (Chairman Park Jung-oh) ▲Putronic (Chairman Go Jin-ho) ▲Eunsan Shipping & Aviation (Chairman Yang Jae-saeng) ▲Panacia (Chairman Lee Soo-tae) ▲Dohil Steel (CEO Jang Jae-heon) ▲Daewon Plus Group (Chairman Choi Sam-seop) ▲Winsteel (Chairman Song Kyu-jung) ▲Star Motors (Chairman Yoo Jae-jin) ▲Taekwang (Chairman Yoon Sung-duk) ▲Korea Wire (Chairman Lee Je-hoon) ▲Rino Industry (Chairman Lee Chae-yoon) ▲Kukje Food (Chairman Jung Jung-kyo) ▲DW International Logistics Center (Chairman Shin Han-chun), totaling 26 companies.

Donations from local companies began in 2021, even before the World Expo bid activities officially started. However, this time, in addition to companies that have consistently supported annually, new companies have also joined the donation relay.

This appears to be because the visit of the inspection team greatly boosted expectations for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid, and the consensus that hosting the 2030 World Expo is the future of Busan has firmly taken root in the local community.

The scale of this donation is also significant compared to last year's 2.4 billion KRW, reaching a total of 12.75 billion KRW. In particular, Nexen Group Chairman Kang Byung-jung is reported to have personally donated 3 billion KRW, and Dongwon Group Chairman Jang Bok-man donated 500 million KRW in his name.

With the host city vote scheduled for November, the local business community, led by senior figures, is voluntarily lending their support once again for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid. Busan City plans to accelerate overseas focused promotion and negotiation activities in the second half of the year.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “The entire Republic of Korea has demonstrated unprecedented unified strength to successfully overcome the major milestone of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) on-site inspection. Now, only the final seven months remain until the host city decision, and we must make the last sprint. With the precious support of local companies gathered this time, we will do our utmost to win the bid until the very end.”
