Busan Port Authority (BPA) jointly opened the 3rd and 4th branches of the sharing refrigerator ‘BPA Hope Pantry’ on the 27th with the Sasang-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Busan.
The 3rd branch was installed in the main building of the welfare center in Jurye 1-dong, Sasang-gu, and the 4th branch was installed in the welfare center annex inside Deokpo Market, Sasang-gu. The management and operation are handled by the Sasang-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
The 3rd and 4th branches of the Hope Pantry are scheduled to begin operation from the second week of May, with the 3rd branch operating every Thursday from 2 PM to 5 PM, and the 4th branch operating every Friday from 2 PM to 5 PM.
The 3rd and 4th branches of the Hope Pantry operate based on food and daily necessities donated by local residents and businesses, and these are provided free of charge to low-income families using the welfare center.
At the main building of the welfare center in Jurye 1-dong, Sasang-gu, officials are taking a commemorative photo for the opening of Hope Pantry Branch No. 3.
Following the opening of the 1st branch at Dongsam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Yeongdo-gu, Busan on the 13th, BPA installed and is operating the 2nd branch at Sahasang Love Sharing Food Market in Saha-gu on the 20th. They plan to consecutively open up to the 7th branch by May.
BPA Hope Pantry is a project in which BPA installs sharing refrigerators in areas near the port with budget support from the Public Coexistence Solidarity Fund Foundation.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “As BPA Hope Pantry branches open one by one, the culture of sharing is spreading within the community,” and added, “Busan Port Authority will continue to strive to revitalize the Hope Pantry that shares hope with the local community.”
BPA was recognized for its efforts in win-win cooperation with the local community, including small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, and received the ‘Highest’ grade in the ‘2022 Public Institution Co-Growth Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
