Exhibition in Lobby and Lounge Until June 27
Lotte Hotel Seoul announced on the 27th that it will hold a planned exhibition titled 'On the Path of Time' by mother-of-pearl artist Ryu Ji-an until June 27.
Artist Ryu uses mother-of-pearl as a medium to coexist contrasting elements such as nature-artificial and tradition-modern, presenting new images and expressing the light of mother-of-pearl through various techniques and genres. This exhibition features over 20 works, including pieces exhibited last year at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as new works. Visitors can encounter a series expressing the flow of time by borrowing the shapes of islands, waves, and moon jars in the Main Tower lobby and the Executive Lounge.
In particular, the 'The Moon' series, known to have been received as a state gift by President Joe Biden, is exhibited in the Main Tower lobby and the Executive Tower 16th-floor lounge 'Le Salon.' The works embody the calm yet dynamic energy of the sea, the flow of waves, and the beauty of natural cycles within the form of a moon jar.
The exhibition also includes works that deconstruct and expand Korean landscapes and genre paintings, expressing time, the energy and direction arising from its flow, connection, and communication through various media.
A representative of Lotte Hotel said, "This exhibition was prepared to share an artistic experience where Lotte Hotel Seoul, which housed Korea's first commercial gallery 'Bando Gallery' in the first-floor lobby during its days as Bando Hotel in 1956, establishes itself as a passage of time connecting the past, present, and future through works by contemporary Korean artists. We will install artworks in spaces representing the hotel to provide guests with a rich artistic experience."
