The distribution industry is holding a series of generous giveaway events in May to capture shopping demand during Family Month. May includes various gift-giving occasions such as Children's Day, Parents' Day, and Teachers' Day, making it a prime opportunity for companies to compete in marketing to secure this 'special demand.'


According to the industry on the 1st, GS Shop will run a shopping event called ‘Generous Imagination Beyond Expectations’ throughout May. When combining reward points, gifts, coupons, and card discounts, customers will receive benefits worth up to 35 billion KRW in this large-scale event. During this period, GS Shop plans to offer prizes such as Dyson Airwraps, Grand Hyatt hotel vouchers, and iPads through participatory events like a four-line acrostic poetry contest and a 100-day writing competition, in addition to giving away 1 billion KRW in reward points.


Lotte Mart is also holding a family travel sweepstakes event for customers using Lotte Mart Mall until the 31st. One grand prize winner will be selected by lottery to receive Tokyo Disneyland admission tickets and airfare for up to four people. Unlike typical prize events, this event does not require any purchase conditions, allowing anyone to enter. A Lotte Mart representative said, "We planned this event so that customers can spend precious time with their families."


CJ OnStyle is running a daily ‘Lucky Draw’ event on its mobile application starting today. Prizes include highly sought-after items known for being sold out, such as a Chanel bag and Dyson Airwrap. A CJ OnStyle representative said, "We are striving to plan shopping events that provide unique enjoyment," adding, "Since this is not a promotional event, we are carefully considering customer preferences."


NS Home Shopping is holding the ‘Customer Appreciation Festival NS Gives Away 100 Million KRW’ event to celebrate its 22nd anniversary and Family Month. Customers who place orders through home shopping or the app will be entered into a draw to win prizes such as a Genesis G80 and massage chairs. Discount coupons will be provided daily during the event, and reward points will be given based on payment amounts from the 1st to the 7th.


Hyundai Home Shopping is offering luxury bags and wallets through a lottery for customers who share the ‘Super H Festa’ content on social media (SNS). Prizes include a Dior Saddle Flap Wallet, Prada Bucket Bag, Celine Triomphe Compact Wallet, 5th generation iPad Air, and LG Electronics StanbyMe. A Hyundai Home Shopping representative said, "To celebrate Family Month, we have prepared the largest scale of generous prizes and discounts in the first half of the year to bring joy to our customers."


Lotte Department Store is holding the ‘Super Beauty Festa’ until the 7th, where 10 customers who purchase beauty products at offline stores will be selected by lottery to receive cosmetic sets worth up to 700,000 KRW. A Lotte Department Store representative said, "May is the month with the highest beauty product sales due to gift demand for Family Month, but this year, even more demand is expected due to the 'no-mask' effect," adding, "We have prepared the largest-scale promotions and events of the year."
