Boseong-gun, 'Cooperative FunFun' Selected for Jeonnam-style Youth Village Development Project

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that the youth organization ‘Cooperative FunFun’ was selected for the ‘2023 Jeonnam-style Youth Village Creation’ contest project.

Out of 34 youth organizations in Jeollanam-do that applied, five final organizations were selected, including ‘Questland’ by ‘Cooperative FunFun,’ the representative organization of Boseong-gun. The selected organizations will receive project funding of 300 million KRW over two years.

The Youth Village Creation Project is a program promoted by Jeollanam-do since 2022, where young people utilize local resources to solve regional problems and revitalize the community.

Questland, proposed by Boseong-gun, is a youth village where young people, exhausted from fierce daily competition and having lost joy, can recover and explore their dreams in the local natural environment.

Questland operates programs such as △ workation experiences utilizing the stagnant green tea experience space, △ tea branding work using local specialties including green tea production, manufacturing, processing, and packaging, △ development of tea culture and local specialty brand goods, online sales, and operation of a curated shop, and △ festivals to promote the brands produced in the youth village.

‘Cooperative FunFun (CEO Yu Sang-yeon)’ explained that the reason for creating the village called ‘Questland’ is to liken the ‘quest’?a task performed and rewarded in online games?to the tasks young people must undertake such as studying, entering university, employment, and marriage.

They also stated that the goal is for young people to enjoy ‘rest’ through Boseong’s unique tea culture, local businesses, specialty brand development, and workation, and to settle in the village during this process.

Yu Sang-yeon, CEO of Cooperative FunFun, said, “I hope young people experience rest and recovery through Questland, have opportunities to experience jobs related to Boseong’s tea culture, and get to know the region.” He added, “Please look forward to Boseong Questland, a place with ‘rest.’”

A Boseong-gun official said, “With the birth of the youth village in the county, it seems we have taken one step closer to Boseong where young people can pursue their dreams and hopes.”

Meanwhile, Boseong-gun plans to hold expert consulting and workshops for youth village stakeholders to successfully promote the ‘2023 Jeonnam-style Youth Village Creation’ project, which is their first attempt.

Additionally, after supplementing and refining the project plan, they plan to induce young people to settle in Boseong through youth village space creation and operation of local living experience programs.
