Bitsrosis Secures Exclusive Distribution Rights for Lightron 5G Products in Indonesia

Bitsrosis, which has ventured into Indonesia, has secured the exclusive distribution rights for Lightron's new 5G optical communication modules in Indonesia.

Bitsrosis (CEO Ki-jae Lee) announced on the 26th that it signed a contract to acquire the exclusive distribution rights for Lightron's (CEO Chan-hee Park) 5G optical transceivers in Indonesia. Both companies also agreed to actively cooperate in local joint marketing efforts.

Lightron is a company whose overseas export ratio is notably increasing as orders from global clients expand. Last year, its consolidated sales reached 52.6 billion KRW, a 19.1% increase from the previous year, and operating profit turned positive at 1.22 billion KRW.

In particular, last year it gained attention by developing a new optical transceiver product for upgrading 5th generation (5G) wireless access networks. This technology uses a 4-level high-order modulation method that sends 2 bits per cycle at 25Gbps, doubling the transmission distance within optical fiber, thereby enabling a more efficient configuration of existing 5G networks and realizing an expanded 25Gbps-class front haul network.

Bitsrosis established a local corporation to participate in infrastructure construction projects related to the relocation of Indonesia's new capital, laying the foundation for overseas market entry. A company official stated, "This contract was based on both companies' judgment to utilize Bitsrosis's already established local corporation and sales network rather than Lightron's own sales efforts," adding, "We will actively promote Lightron's 5G optical transceivers along with technologies needed for urban basic infrastructure construction such as water supply, environment, and traffic control."

According to the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), the internet penetration rate was 77.02% as of last year, and according to the CTO of XL Axiata, the 5G penetration rate is only 2.5%. As of July 2022, the four major Indonesian telecom companies have about 500,000 base stations.

Since 2019, Indonesia has been promoting the relocation of its capital from Jakarta, where ground subsidence and population concentration problems are severe, to Nusantara on the island of Kalimantan. The relocation is proceeding according to a five-stage development plan along with infrastructure projects worth 40 trillion KRW by 2045.
