Gokseong Where Returning Farmers and Migrants Are Happy, From Preparation to Settlement All at Once
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it participated in the 2023 Returning to Farming and Rural Areas Youth Startup Hometown Love Expo held at the aT Center in Yangjae, Seoul from the 21st to the 23rd.
This expo was attended together with the Gokseong-gun Returning to Farming and Rural Areas Support Center.
Experienced returnees to farming and rural areas provided more systematic and substantial consultations based on their firsthand experiences with crop selection before returning, education, and utilizing the Returnee’s House, as well as their agricultural experience and trial-and-error processes.
Gokseong-gun introduced policies for returning to farming and rural areas, the Hometown Love Donation System, and Gokseong travel, while promoting Gokseong’s representative agricultural specialty products. Items such as Baeksemi rice, taro, processed taro products, yogurt, cheese, fermented vinegar, melon syrup, melon Makgeolli, fruit juices (apple, grape, ABC), brown rice, five-colored rice, and processed five-colored rice products were exhibited, attracting the interest of urban residents.
In particular, they provided information on policies such as repair costs for farmhouses subsidized up to 5 million KRW per household, new agricultural workforce development projects, and loan support projects for agricultural startups and house purchases for returnees.
An official from the county said, “Even urban residents in the metropolitan area can successfully settle in rural areas if they conduct sufficient preliminary research and have a systematic plan. We hope that through this expo, the geographical information and agricultural specialty products of Gokseong-gun have become widely known.”
Gokseong-gun is actively promoting returning to farming and rural areas to urban residents in the metropolitan area and prospective returnees dreaming of returning home. To this end, it provides ample information about returning to farming and rural areas and is continuously seeking ways to attract urban residents.
