Pyo Yerim, "A Big Lie with a Bit of Truth"... School Violence Perpetrator's Counterattack

Suspect A Says "We Were a Rowdy Group but It's Unfair"

A씨, accused as the perpetrator in the case of Pyo Ye-rim (28), who confessed to enduring school violence for 12 years and is called the 'real-life The Glory,' has come forward to express his grievances.

On the 22nd, a post titled "Hello, I am A○○ from the 'The Glory' case" was uploaded on an online community.

A씨, accused as the perpetrator in the school violence case against Pyo Ye-rim, stated in the post, "First of all, I admit that I was part of what is commonly called the 'play group' during my school days," and added, "I acknowledge that I may have easily hurt someone's feelings and caused harm to others. I feel sorry and will live with reflection not only toward Pyo Ye-rim but all my classmates."

However, A씨 denied the allegations, saying, "During my school days, I never harmed or trampled on anyone simply for fun or without reason. I swear to heaven that I never persistently ostracized or led bullying against one person for as long as 12 years," and refuted Pyo’s side’s claims such as "'putting her head in the toilet,' 'hitting her shoulder with a diary,' 'mocking her by calling her Pyo Hye-gyo,' and 'never apologizing' are all untrue."

He continued, "In my senior year of high school, I was actually the one who was ostracized within the group. After becoming an adult, I remembered Pyo Ye-rim and contacted her to sincerely apologize," he claimed. A씨 said, "I received a reply saying, 'I don't know if your apology will really make me okay, but thank you for reaching out,' and since it was in 2015, there is no message record."

Regarding the recently released recorded phone conversation with Pyo, he said, "It was strangely edited and distorted to make it seem like I was beating all the introverted classmates, which is unfair," adding, "Both of us were very drunk during the call, and my tongue was so twisted that it was embarrassing, but I am willing to disclose the entire conversation. I know that (Pyo) intended to attack me with clear malice, and feeling that intent, I also responded aggressively. I can also release the full related KakaoTalk messages."

A씨 was accused of special injury in January

According to A씨, who was accused of special injury in January, the complaint at the time included the claim that "in November 2013, I hit Pyo’s shoulder with the corner of a diary." Denying this as well, A씨 said, "I was very unfairly accused, but to prove false accusation, I gathered circumstantial evidence that Pyo Ye-rim had collected false testimonies and submitted them," adding, "I still have the materials, and I thought the case would end with a non-prosecution decision due to insufficient evidence."

A씨 said, "Pyo Ye-rim began to make threatening contacts to my acquaintances and family, digging up my home address and contacting classmates, saying things like 'You never teased me, but if you don’t write a statement, I will accuse you as a perpetrator too,' 'Contact A○○ to make him badmouth me and send that to me,' and 'Evidence can be fabricated as much as needed,' which were excessive actions."

He added, "Even if someone maliciously writes false statements, they can be used as evidence, and those statements become accepted facts overnight, turning me into a demon, which is unbearably unfair," and said, "It is said that mixing a little truth with a big lie makes the lie become truth. It is easy to claim something that never happened as fact, but proving otherwise is extremely difficult."

A씨 said, "I receive hundreds of anonymous follow requests per hour, dozens of missed calls from blocked numbers, abusive language, death threats via text messages, and prank calls to the military base, making daily life impossible," and added, "Although time cannot be reversed, from now on I will live rightly, without harming others, and with reflection."

Currently working as an Army civilian employee, A씨 stated, "I work as an emergency medical officer and have never lost my sense of responsibility and mission," and said, "I am very sorry that all civilian employees and emergency medical personnel are being blamed because of me."
