Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is presenting a program in May, Family Month, to reflect on the importance of family through books.
Nam-gu Cultural Information Library announced on the 24th that it will operate an invited author lecture and experience program themed around the rabbit, the symbolic animal of the Year of the Rabbit, for elementary school students throughout May.
First, on June 6, a meeting with author Yu Seolhwa, who wrote the picture book "Super Rabbit," will be held. The meeting with author Yu will take place from 2 PM to 4 PM on that day. The event is open to 25 students enrolled in grades 1 through 4 of elementary school.
Author Yu will read the picture books "Super Rabbit" and "Super Turtle" with the elementary students, explain the process of making picture books, and lead a character-making experience.
The number of participants is limited to the first 25 applicants, and applications will be accepted from the 24th via the Nam-gu Integrated Library website.
The "Rabbit Seolgi Making" experience program will be held on June 20 and is designed for students in grades 3 through 6 of elementary school. Participant recruitment will begin on the 8th on the Nam-gu Integrated Library website on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students participating in the experience program will learn how to steam rice cakes, fill the rice cake molds, draw faces with chocolate pens, and package the products together with instructor Lee Kyunghee.
All materials needed for the experience will be provided free of charge.
In addition, the Cultural Information Library will hold a book exhibition on the theme of family and love in the comprehensive reference room on the 6th floor of the library throughout May.
