The Kumho Tire EXSTA Racing Team won the opening double round of the '2023 CJ Logistics Superrace Championship' held over two days on the 22nd and 23rd at Everland Speedway in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
In the top-tier category of the competition, the Super 6000 class, EXSTA Racing Team drivers Lee Chang-wook and Lee Chan-jun secured first place in the 1st and 2nd rounds respectively, dominating both rounds. The opening round winner, Lee Chang-wook, finished second behind Kim Jae-hyun (Nexen-VOLGAS Motorsports) in the Superrace Round 1 final. However, due to a collision judgment against Kim’s vehicle during the race, Lee ultimately claimed the podium.
Additionally, Lee Chan-jun, who secured first place from the qualifying round of Round 2, demonstrated high-level driving by not allowing any overtakes during the final, achieving a 'pole-to-win' (starting from the front grid position and winning). Notably, during the race, Lee Chang-wook, who was protecting first-place driver Lee Chan-jun in second place, effectively blocked the charge of Jung Eui-chul (Nexen-VOLGAS Motorsports) in third place, showcasing perfect teamwork.

This year, the EXSTA Racing Team appointed Shin Young-hak as the new team director. They also completed a four-member lineup by recruiting skilled drivers Lee Chan-jun and Lee Chang-wook, junior driver Song Young-kwang, and Hiroki Yoshida. They strengthened their organization by bringing in Scott Beaton, a former engineer from the Williams F1 team.
Lee Chang-wook said, "I am very happy to achieve my first-ever victory and to stand atop the podium in the season’s first race. This win was possible because of Kumho Tire. I will continue to show good performances, so please look forward to it."
Lee Chan-jun said, "I feel very sorry and grateful to Lee Chang-wook, who firmly protected me throughout the race. I would like to thank the team and Kumho Tire once again for their great support, and I will show good performances in the remaining races as well."
Jo Man-sik, Head of Kumho Tire Research and Development Division, stated, "Motorsports performance is determined by racing tires. Kumho Tire will also do its best in product research and development to deliver the highest performance to meet the expectations of the drivers."
