Sulwhasoo’s Yunjo Essence received the main prize in the design category at the 2023 Red Dot Design Award.

Yunjo Essence is a first essence applied immediately after cleansing and is recognized as a product that has revolutionized the beauty routines of women worldwide.
Organized by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, the Red Dot Design Award is considered one of the world’s top three design competitions alongside Germany’s iF Design Award and the United States’ IDEA Design Award. Sulwhasoo has continuously strived to embody Korean aesthetics inspired by the moon jar in its containers, and this design philosophy, which fully embraces long-standing tradition and artistic sensibility, has been globally recognized.
The design of the newly launched 6th generation Sulwhasoo Yunjo Essence this year began with the shape of the Joseon white porcelain moon jar, which represents traditional aesthetics. Inspired by Korea’s unique calligraphy and painting (seohwa), the design was completed to transcend tradition and modernity, language, and space. The front of the product, which captures the clear light of white porcelain, features the Sulwhasoo signature color logo, and the jar’s smooth curves, reminiscent of the moon jar, embody a sense of spaciousness and harmony that embraces everything.
The product name on the container also reflects Korean aesthetics. Harmonizing horizontal and vertical writing, it expresses the beauty of empty space that is both vacant and full, revealing its presence from any angle. By stamping Sulwhasoo’s hanja seal (樂觀), it elevates the beauty product to a work of art reminiscent of traditional Korean calligraphy and painting.
