Geuinmo, Geochang County Governor, Joins the 'Single-Use Products Zero Challenge'

Nadongyeon Named as Next Candidate for Yangsan Mayor

Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, Gyeongnam, announced on the 24th that he has joined the ‘Single-Use Products Zero Challenge,’ pledging to reduce the use of single-use products in daily life.


This challenge is a nationwide campaign to reduce the use of single-use products and increase the use of reusable products. Mayor Gu In-mo participated after being nominated by Choi Hak-beom, vice chairman of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council.

The ‘Single-Use Products Zero Challenge’ began on February 27 with Han Hwa-jin, Minister of Environment, and is conducted by posting a pledge to reduce single-use products on social networking services (SNS) to encourage public participation in resource conservation and greenhouse gas reduction, followed by nominating the next participant.


Mayor Gu In-mo nominated Na Dong-yeon, mayor of Yangsan, and Lee Myung-joo, director of the Geochang Office of Education, as the next participants, stating, “I will take the lead in supporting the use of reusable containers at funeral homes, cafes, and various meetings to promote the use of reusable cups and tumblers.” He added, “I hope for active participation from the residents to reduce single-use product consumption and increase reusable product use to achieve carbon neutrality early.”


Geochang County signed a business agreement on the 30th of last month with the Geochang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center and three local funeral homes to spread the culture of reusing reusable containers. The county is also promoting the establishment of the Geochang County Carbon Neutral Green Growth Basic Plan and plans to hold a kickoff report meeting on the 26th.
