Hit-and-run under the influence late at night... 30s driver arrested at home

A man in his 30s who hit a pedestrian while driving drunk late at night and fled the scene was caught by the police.

The Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul is investigating a man in his 30s, Mr. A, on charges including hit-and-run causing injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes as of the 23rd.

Mr. A is accused of hitting a man in his 30s, Mr. B, while making a left turn on a side street in a residential area of Yongdu-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, at around 1:14 a.m. that day, and fleeing without providing aid.

Mr. B was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but remains unconscious.

About two hours later, at 3:45 a.m., Mr. A was urgently arrested at his home in Dongdaemun-gu. At the time of arrest, Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was at the level warranting license suspension.

The police plan to decide whether to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A after investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident.
