15,704 National Proposals Received and Reviewed... "Will Continue Life-Reflective Communication"
The Presidential Office announced on the 23rd that it has published and posted a progress report on the operation of the 'People's Proposals' on its website. In the fourth quarter of last year, 15,704 people's proposals were received and reviewed, 405 candidate tasks were identified, and finally 15 were selected and decided to be promoted as secondary policy tasks.
'People's Proposals' is a system established by the Presidential Office last year to collect public opinions for communication with the people. This report, published for the second time following January, contains an analysis of the proposals received in the fourth quarter of last year.
The main keywords of this People's Proposal were ▲Itaewon ▲COVID-19 ▲police station ▲real estate ▲violent criminals ▲disabled persons ▲support funds ▲Yongsan ▲small business owners, etc. It was analyzed that there is high public interest in the Itaewon disaster and its prevention, lifting of COVID-19 mask mandates, jeonse fraud, restrictions on residence of violent criminals, and improvement of protest culture.
The applicants' age groups were mostly in their 60s (24.0%), 50s (20.7%), and 20s (19.8%), and the fields were police, prosecution, and courts (16.2%), administration and safety (13.0%), finance (6.5%), and culture (6.4%), in that order.
This People's Proposal decreased by nearly 40% compared to the 25,099 cases from June 23 to the end of September last year, and 88.7% of the civil complaints, proposals, and petitions in the fourth quarter have been responded to by the relevant agencies.
Kang Seung-gyu, Senior Secretary for Civil Society, said, "We sincerely review each and every valuable opinion from the people and reflect them in policies," adding, "We will continue to engage in communication that resonates with daily life."
