The School Outside Youth Support Center - Kkumdeulim, operated by Gumi City, held the launch ceremony of the ‘2023 Kkumdeulim Youth Group,’ consisting of 12 representatives of out-of-school youth, on the 20th at the Gumi City Youth Counseling Welfare Center.
The Gumi City Kkumdeulim Youth Group was selected through an open recruitment of youths who have participated in the School Outside Youth Support Center programs and are willing to represent out-of-school youth activities.
The 12 selected youths will be responsible for activities such as gathering opinions on policies and project operations related to out-of-school youth throughout 2023 and deriving continuous improvement directions. Additionally, they will perform various roles including mentor-mentee activities to help peer out-of-school youths adapt socially and producing videos to raise awareness.
The launch ceremony held that day consisted of Part 1: appointment ceremony, and Part 2: center project briefing and orientation, election of executives, and discussion on the activity direction of the 2023 Kkumdeulim Youth Group.
Kim Minseong, a Gumi City council member who has been dedicated to youth as part of the 1388 Youth Support Group, also attended and encouraged, saying, “We are working hard to increase enjoyable activities for youths in Gumi City, so I hope the Kkumdeulim Youth Group representing out-of-school youths will provide many good ideas.”
One of the new members expressed their aspirations for future activities, saying, “I hope this will be an opportunity for me to sprout and grow through the Kkumdeulim Youth Group, and also be a small help to peer out-of-school youths.”
We look forward to the active role of the ‘2023 Gumi City Kkumdeulim Youth Group’ as mentors for out-of-school youths and in changing social perceptions and improving rights for out-of-school youths.
