The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) is launching training programs to strengthen the intellectual property capabilities of export-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
On the 23rd, KIPO announced that starting from the 28th, it will begin accepting applications for regional intellectual property capability enhancement training courses, beginning in Seoul.
The training is conducted with support from the Employment Insurance Fund of the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The program aims to minimize damage to export companies by strengthening their intellectual property capabilities in response to the increasing cases of domestic products being copied and sold as counterfeit goods overseas.
The training targets employees of SMEs enrolled in employment insurance, and trainees will receive full support for the training fees.
The Seoul training will be held from May 31 to June 15 at the Korea Intellectual Property Center. Training sessions in other regions will follow in the order of Busan, Gangwon, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk.
The curriculum, reflecting the results of a prior demand survey, includes ▲ patent information search ▲ patent information analysis ▲ practical intellectual property management ▲ intellectual property utilization ▲ patent licensing and patent disputes.
Through this training, KIPO plans to provide relevant knowledge and various case studies to help SMEs planning to export or already operating overseas respond to issues such as local intellectual property applications, protection, infringement, and litigation in their target countries.
For more detailed information about the training, please refer to the notice posted on the IPCAMPUS website or contact the Lifelong Education Office of the Korea Invention Promotion Association.
Kim Tae-eung, Director of the International Intellectual Property Training Institute at KIPO, said, “We hope that the intellectual property capability enhancement training will be of practical help to domestic export companies,” adding, “We will strive to organize diverse and systematic courses to improve companies’ intellectual property capabilities.”
