Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, “Let’s Break Down the Barriers of Disability by Running Together”
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, attended the 14th Mapo Turtle Marathon event held on the 22nd at the Peace Plaza in World Cup Park, Sangam-dong.
Now in its 14th year, the ‘Mapo Turtle Marathon’ is organized by the Mapo Disabled Persons Comprehensive Welfare Center and sponsored by Mapo-gu. Without any competition for ranking, people with and without disabilities walk and run together along a 6.4km marathon course.

On this day, about 500 participants including families of people with disabilities and local residents took part.
In addition to the marathon, celebratory performances and experience booths were set up, creating an enjoyable and meaningful time.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Park Gang-su said, “The Mapo Turtle Marathon is an opportunity for people with and without disabilities to walk together with one heart and one mind, breaking down the walls that separate disabilities.” He added, “Mapo-gu will continue to do its best to promote welfare for disabled residents and activate community sports.”

Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) held a signing ceremony with Dangjin City at Dangjin City Hall on the 19th, pledging mutual exchange and cooperation.
At the ceremony, Mayor Moon Heon-il of Guro-gu and Mayor Oh Seong-hwan of Dangjin City personally attended and signed the agreement.
Through this agreement, the two institutions agreed to ▲promote mutual understanding through exchanges in administration, environment, culture, tourism, sports, and agriculture ▲actively support exchanges among public officials, private organizations, and youth ▲cooperate on common interests and discover additional cooperative projects with mutual support ▲form a working group for friendly exchange to discover and promote detailed projects with full cooperation.
In particular, Guro-gu plans to seek sustainable win-win development measures between urban and rural areas based on this agreement.
After the signing ceremony, Mayor Moon attended the opening ceremony of the ‘2023 Gijisi Tug-of-War Festival’ held in the Gijisi area of Songak-eup, Dangjin City, and delivered congratulatory remarks.
Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “Starting with this agreement, we expect to expand cooperation with Dangjin City in various fields and create good synergy effects,” adding, “I hope the exchanges will be activated and develop into a successful case of urban-rural coexistence.”
