According to AP News and others, on the 20th (local time), Secretary General Stoltenberg was seen commemorating the war dead of the current conflict at the square in front of St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and inspecting destroyed Russian military equipment.

After the event at the square, he left by car for other engagements. This marks the first visit by a NATO Secretary General to Ukraine since Russia invaded Ukraine in February last year.

A NATO official said, "The Secretary General is currently visiting Ukraine," adding, "We will disclose more information as soon as possible."

Additionally, NATO explained that this visit was not announced in advance due to security reasons.

Secretary General Stoltenberg's visit appears to emphasize NATO's commitment to Ukraine's defense. It took place ahead of the anticipated large-scale Ukrainian counteroffensive expected soon.
