40-Year-Old Man Given Probation for Indecent Acts Toward Woman on the Street

A man in his 40s who exposed his genitals while staring at women passing by on the street was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

According to the legal community on the 20th, Judge Lee Gwangheon of the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 4 sentenced A (42), who was indicted on charges of public obscenity, to six months in prison with a two-year suspension.

He was also ordered to undergo probation, attend 80 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures, and was banned from working in institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities for two years.

A was indicted for following a woman passing by while exposing his genitals in an alley in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, in September of last year.

A has a prior record of being sentenced to eight months in prison with a two-year suspension for a similar crime of forcible molestation.

The judge said, "It appears that the victims who witnessed the crime at the time experienced considerable psychological shock, including fear and anxiety."

However, he judged that "the defendant admitted the charges, showed remorse, and reached settlements with some of the victims, considering these circumstances comprehensively."
