45 Traffic Violations Including Drunk Driving Caught in Front of Changwon Elementary School

Gyeongnam Police Agency Mobile Enforcement Team Special Crackdown Implemented

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Mobile Enforcement Team announced on the 20th that they conducted a special crackdown on traffic violations in front of elementary schools in the province, detecting a total of 45 cases.


According to the Provincial Police Agency, the Mobile Enforcement Team, consisting of two undercover patrol cars and ten motorcycle patrol units (Saika team), is conducting the special crackdown from the 17th of this month until May 31st.


From the 17th to the 19th, the enforcement team carried out special crackdowns at 12 locations within 46 school zones in downtown Changwon, including Jangcheon Elementary School in Jinhae, Sarim Elementary School, and Sahwa Elementary School in Changwon, detecting ▲32 violations on school commuting routes ▲45 violations within school zones.

The main violations on the commuting routes included ▲17 cases of signal violations ▲15 cases of designated lane violations, while within the school zones, there were ▲1 case of drunk driving ▲1 case involving a wanted person with a fine ▲1 case of missing license plate ▲12 cases of not wearing helmets ▲3 cases of signal violations ▲27 cases of crossing the center line and not wearing seat belts.


Among these, the driver caught for drunk driving within the school zone had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher, which is the level for license cancellation.


The Provincial Police Agency plans to continue special crackdowns at 34 other school zones in downtown areas by deploying the Mobile Enforcement Team.


A representative from the Provincial Police Agency stated, “To prevent traffic accidents involving children, we will strengthen school zone traffic safety activities by collaborating with cooperative organizations such as the Green Mothers' Association.”
