Emart, Toy Sales Up 10%
TinyPing Random Box 'Temporarily Sold Out'
Various Products, Discount Events Prepared
Office worker Kim Hyun-mo (34) recently ordered a Hello Carbot toy from an online mall as a Children's Day gift. He had previously learned that his nephew liked the toy. Kim said, "Last Christmas, popular products sold out, making it difficult to buy gifts," adding, "This time, I bought it early, so I feel at ease."
As Children's Day approaches, the number of early bird customers purchasing toys in advance is increasing. This is because popular products often temporarily sell out during peak demand periods such as Christmas and Children's Day.
According to Emart and Lotte Mart on the 21st, toy sales from the 13th to the 19th of this month increased by 10% compared to the previous month. During the same period, toy sales on Gmarket rose by 20%, on 11st by 15%, and on SSG.com by 35%. Some popular products have already sold out. At Lotte Mart, the TinyTing Random Box, exclusively released by Toys "R" Us, sold out completely, and 3,000 more units are planned to be restocked by the end of this month.
Every year, Lego, Form Alive, and Hello Carbot consistently gain popularity. According to Lotte Mart, this year's top-selling toys are: 1st place - Lego Jay's Titan Robot, 2nd place - Lego Bugatti Bolide, 3rd place - Super Mario Mario Mini RC Car, 4th place - Gravitrax Pro Starter: Extreme, 5th place - Form Alive Mega Deluxe Set, 6th place - Tobot V 6-Unit Combination Master V, 7th place - Hello Carbot Hypercops, 8th place - Mimi World Sanrio Characters Making Squishy, 9th place - Alssong Dalssong TinyTing Figure Bag, and 10th place - Mercedes-Benz EQA Electric Push Car.
The distribution industry has prepared various products and discount events. Emart is holding a discount event on all stationery and toys until the 7th of next month. They have planned ultra-low-priced products such as TinyTing and Tobot, and exclusive products for Sanrio, Carbot, and Kongsuni. Lotte Mart is selling about 2,000 popular brand toys at up to 70% off. Lego products are discounted up to 40%, and customers who purchase Lego products worth more than 100,000 won will receive a Lego tin case set as a gift. Homeplus offers up to 40% discount on about 200 Lego products when paid with event cards, and sells about 50 Tayo and Super Wings products at up to 30% off. Gmarket is holding a Children's Day gift event until the 2nd of next month and recommends popular gifts by age group. 11st offers a 5% discount coupon for gift purchases in celebration of Family Month until the 30th of this month. SSG.com is holding a Kids SSG Sale until the 23rd of this month, offering discount coupons up to 15%. Lotte On is selling toys and playthings at up to 50% off until the 7th of next month.
A distribution industry official said, "As Children's Day approaches, toy demand is rapidly increasing, and we are securing popular product quantities through close consultations with manufacturers," adding, "We plan to continue events featuring a diverse product lineup and rich shopping content."
