Korean Air will resume domestic feeder flights between Daegu and Incheon starting from the 23rd. This comes after a suspension of over three years since February 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Daegu-Incheon route will operate daily with a 140-seat aircraft, beginning with flight KE1433 from Incheon to Daegu at 19:35 on the 23rd. The airline plans to expand transportation services through Daegu Airport.
Unlike domestic flights, the feeder flights only allow passengers transferring from Daegu to international flights at Incheon Airport.
Until now, residents of Daegu and Gyeongbuk had to endure the inconvenience of taking a 4 to 5-hour express bus or multiple transfers via KTX to reach Incheon Airport for overseas travel to destinations such as the Americas and Europe.
Especially for local residents using morning flights, the inconvenience of having to start their schedules very early in the morning was significant. The resumption of these feeder flights is expected to alleviate the inconvenience of air travel, save travel time, and improve transfer convenience at Incheon Airport.
Baek Seok-ju, Head of the Daegu City Integrated New Airport Construction Headquarters, said, “We welcome the resumption of Korean Air’s feeder flights after three years,” adding, “We will do our best to cooperate with airlines and airport corporations to ensure that international routes, which had decreased due to COVID-19, return to normal by the end of this year.”
