Sang-geun Lee, Goseong County Governor, Listens to Student Support Plans for Educational Development Sang-geun Lee, Governor of Goseong County, Gyeongnam, visited Donghae Elementary School to listen to student support measures and policy proposals.

In 2021, the school was selected as an excellent school in the school evaluation and designated as an autonomous school (small school) by the Superintendent of Education in 2022. Currently, there are 20 students in 5 elementary classes and 1 student in 1 kindergarten class enrolled.

On the 19th, Mayor Lee listened to policy proposals for saving the small Donghae Elementary School from the 'Donghae Elementary Education Development Governance' committee, consisting of former principal Je-myeong of Donghae Elementary School, Lee Do-gyeong, president of the Donghae Elementary Alumni Association, and Choi Du-im, a member of the Goseong County Council.

The mayor said, "The proposal to support remodeling costs for vacant houses is similar to the existing 'Sharing Housing Project.' We need to carefully allocate the budget by understanding the number and demand for vacant houses in Donghae-myeon, and above all, a distinctive school curriculum is important."

Currently, Goseong County is promoting projects with Yeong-o Elementary School selected in 2020 and Samsan Elementary School in 2022 through the Gyeongnam Small School Revitalization Contest. In Yeong-o-myeon, six public rental housing units near the elementary school have been completed, with 31 residents (including 9 elementary students) moving in, and in Samsan-myeon, due to delays in purchasing un-inherited land, an LH private consignment contractor plans to build rental housing within this year.

Additionally, the county supports educational expenses such as small school commuting buses, placement of native English assistant teachers, and specialized programs for elementary, middle, and high schools within the district.
