Doosan Fuel Cell announced on the 20th that it conducted the ‘Green Walking Challenge’ again this year following last year and donated 10 million KRW to the Social Cooperative Hangang. This fund was used for ecosystem restoration and forest creation near the Hangang River.

The ‘Green Walking Challenge’ is an eco-friendly social contribution campaign that promotes personal health by encouraging walking instead of using public transportation or vehicles for short distances, and protects the environment by practicing carbon reduction in daily life.

A total of 420 participants, including Doosan Fuel Cell employees and their families, as well as employees of partner companies, took part in the campaign from the 30th of last month to the 13th of this month, exceeding the goal of 25 million steps by recording 32.41 million steps. Through this campaign, Doosan Fuel Cell contributed to reducing a total of 713 kg of carbon emissions. This amount is equivalent to the carbon absorption of 108 30-year-old pine trees over one year.

The day after the Green Walking Challenge campaign ended, 30 Doosan Fuel Cell employees used the donated 10 million KRW to plant about 1,000 trees, including Salix koreensis, Salix gracilistyla, and Rosa multiflora, at Salgotyi Park in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

These shrubs are expected to contribute to ecological environment preservation and biodiversity expansion by serving as habitats for small birds and mammals in addition to reducing carbon emissions.

A Doosan Fuel Cell official stated, “We will prepare ways for local residents to participate in the Green Walking Challenge campaign in the future to share awareness of the necessity of carbon reduction.”
