8 Pohang Companies with Innovative Technologies Participate
Sharing Global Latest Trends and Future Technology Insights
Promoting Excellence of Domestic and Local Companies Following CES
Pohang City is participating in the country's largest ICT exhibition to promote products from competitive local companies leading the global future advanced industries and to showcase an innovative new industrial ecosystem.
From the 19th to the 21st, the city set up the Pohang Pavilion at the ‘2023 World IT Show (WIS 2023)’, the largest domestic ICT convergence industry exhibition held at COEX in Seoul, providing a platform to promote innovative technologies for local companies.
Building on its experience from January this year, when it was the only basic local government in Korea to establish a ‘Pohang Pavilion’ at the world’s largest consumer electronics show, CES 2023 in the United States, creating opportunities for local companies to expand their overseas business, Pohang City also set up a pavilion at the largest domestic ICT exhibition, ‘WIS 2023’. This effort aims to strengthen the global competitiveness of local startups with innovative technologies and continues to focus on making Pohang a new growth innovative city based on AI and ICT technologies.
At this year’s ‘2023 World IT Show Pohang Pavilion’, eight local companies participated to exhibit products leading the future advanced industries.
‘K-Motors’ showcased a ‘delivery-type electric two-wheeler’s affordable battery exchange station’, attracting significant attention by highlighting the advantages of a battery exchange method that shortens charging time and the application of a national standard battery pack that allows sharing regardless of manufacturer.
Additionally, ‘Gamsoft’ introduced ‘We Seed’, the world’s first numeric code-based navigation application, based on their experience participating in the CES 2023 Pohang Pavilion, while ‘Ubi’ exhibited a ‘wireless photo kiosk’, an unmanned shooting system that is easy to install and move, drawing interest.
In particular, the local company ‘Graphene Square’ was selected as the most outstanding technology product among the WIS exhibition participants for its transparent heater technology, the ‘Graphene Radiator’, winning the WIS Innovation Award and the Minister of Science and ICT Award. This achievement follows their ‘Best Innovation Award’ at CES 2023 earlier this year.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “Local companies with excellent technologies are demonstrating the innovative Pohang technology startup ecosystem and their capabilities through consecutive awards at the largest domestic and international exhibitions,” adding, “We will continue to actively support outstanding companies to fully realize their potential and build Pohang into a ‘venture startup hub city.’”
The ‘2023 World IT Show’ is the largest domestic ICT exhibition sharing the latest trends and future technology directions in the rapidly growing global ICT convergence industry.
Since the early 1980s, multiple IT exhibitions have been held, and since 2008 they have been integrated into the WIS (World IT Show), hosted annually by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
It is the only comprehensive ICT business exhibition in Korea where leading domestic electronics manufacturers and telecommunications companies such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Telecom, and KT all participate. This year, about 446 companies from seven countries including the United States, France, and Japan participated with 1,308 booths, and more than 55,000 visitors are expected.
