"Resigns from Parliament Over Land Speculation Allegations"… Hong Jun-pyo Targets Yoon Hee-sook This Time

Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, who was dismissed from his position as senior advisor due to his harsh criticism of the party, has now targeted former People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook, who called him a 'kkondae' on a radio program.

On the 19th, Mayor Hong criticized Yoon on his social media, saying, "I thought someone who resigned from their lawmaker position due to allegations of land speculation was quietly reflecting on their actions, but recently they have been appearing in the media and causing chaos with their narrow-minded views." Former lawmaker Yoon resigned in 2021 amid allegations of her father's land speculation.

Mayor Hong said, "It is both ridiculous and outrageous for someone who has never even been near aviation policy or balanced national development, and whose only minor credential is working at KDI (Korea Development Institute), to belittle the TK New Airport by calling it a 'pepper-drying airport' and to talk nonsense. That mouth of yours, shut it now and stop lurking around politics," he added.

On the 14th, former lawmaker Yoon said on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' while discussing the exemption from preliminary feasibility studies, "For example, now every region is saying they want to build an airport. Building an airport requires enormous infrastructure investment, but where was it before? Was it Muan? The photo of local residents drying peppers became quite a hot topic." She also directly called Mayor Hong a 'kkondae' after he appeared on the same radio program but hung up the phone without answering the host's question.

Mayor Hong said, "One might dismiss this as just one of the restless people as the general election and cabinet reshuffle approach, but it is hard to tolerate mocking the TK New Airport, which embarks on the national task of balanced regional development, together with a strange interviewer." He criticized both former lawmaker Yoon and the radio host. Regarding the reason for hanging up the phone unilaterally on the radio, Mayor Hong explained, "I stopped the interview midway because they asked a rude question as if I were envying Minister Han Dong-hoon."
