Accused Perpetrator Faces Strong Backlash Including Job Loss
The aftermath is intensifying as a classmate of Pyo Yerim (28), the victim who confessed to suffering school violence for 12 years during her school days in the real-life "The Glory" case, revealed the identities and current status of the perpetrators.
On the 19th, a video titled "Revealing the Identities of School Violence Perpetrators" posted on the YouTube channel ‘Pyo Yerim Classmate’ has recorded 2.78 million views in just five days, spreading widely online.
The channel operator, who identified themselves as a classmate of Pyo, Mr. A, exposed in the video, “Yerim was continuously bullied by a delinquent group including Choi, Nam, Lim, and Jang from elementary school through high school.”
He added, “Yerim is still living in pain, while the perpetrators are doing well. We can no longer ignore Yerim’s suffering, so I am using anonymity to reveal the perpetrators’ identities.”
Mr. A claimed, “The perpetrators intentionally bumped into Yerim’s shoulder to knock her down, grabbed her hair and forced her head into the toilet, and subjected her to physical assault and verbal abuse. When Yerim showed no reaction, they bullied her even more. This was not just friendly teasing but involved slapping and kicking violence.”
Four School Violence Perpetrators Identified, Identities and Current Status Revealed
In the video, Mr. A disclosed the real names and graduation photos of the four individuals identified as school violence perpetrators. He also shared their occupations and current status, showing recent photos, which drew the attention of netizens.
In particular, one franchise hair salon where Jang, one of the accused perpetrators, was reportedly employed, became a target of public outrage, with netizens flocking to the location.
In response, the hair salon issued an official statement on the 18th, saying, “The employee identified in the school violence incident was immediately terminated upon recognition of the case and is no longer working at the store.”
They added, “Apart from the termination, the headquarters takes the damage to the brand image seriously, and separate legal actions against the accused employee are expected. We have no intention of condoning or covering up school violence, and if we had known the facts, we would not have hired the individual.”
Meanwhile, Pyo appeared on MBC’s ‘True Story Exploration’ on the 2nd of last month, drawing attention by revealing, “I was subjected to ostracism, physical violence, and verbal abuse for 12 years throughout elementary, middle, and high school.”
During the broadcast, she even attempted to contact the perpetrators directly via KakaoTalk messenger. In response, she received sharp remarks such as, “Are you high from watching the recent drama (The Glory)? Are you Pyo Hyegyo?” and “Don’t interfere in other people’s lives,” which fueled viewers’ anger.
