Prime Minister Kishida held a meeting lasting about 25 minutes with Secretary Blinken, who visited Japan for the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Tokyo on the same day.
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed the active discussions held at the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting from the 16th to the 18th in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Secretary Blinken stated that the U.S. and Japan will continue to cooperate to uphold a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Kishida and Secretary Blinken exchanged views on U.S.-Japan relations, including security cooperation and economic ties. Prime Minister Kishida emphasized the importance of U.S.-Japan cooperation regarding the G7 summit, and Secretary Blinken reportedly expressed his commitment to continue efforts for the summit's success.
