Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu: "Will Enable People with Disabilities to Travel Without Restrictions"

Gyeongnam Province Strengthens Tourism Infrastructure for People with Disabilities

"We will establish practical policies that people with disabilities can feel firsthand."

On the 18th, Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, made this statement while attending the 43rd Disability Day commemorative event held at the Changwon Convention Center (CECO) Convention Hall.

Disability Day is legally designated as April 20th each year to improve public awareness of people with disabilities and to boost their motivation for rehabilitation.

The commemorative event, hosted by Gyeongnam Province and organized by the Gyeongnam Federation of Organizations of the Disabled, was attended by Governor Park, Kim Jin-bu, Chairman of the Provincial Council, people with disabilities and their families, and about 800 citizens.

The ceremony was held under the theme "No Discrimination, Equal Opportunity, Greater Happiness," featuring a pre-event performance by the K-Harmony Disabled Orchestra, awards for meritorious persons, commemorative and encouragement speeches, congratulatory addresses, and celebratory performances.

Governor Park said, "Warm interest and consideration from our society are even more important so that people with disabilities can live comfortably," adding, "This year, Gyeongnam Province will mark the first year of disability tourism and will strive to enable people with disabilities to travel and enjoy leisure without restrictions."

Gyeongnam Province plans to strengthen the tourism infrastructure for people with disabilities by signing agreements with related organizations to expand discounts on resort usage fees and operate wheelchair lift buses, ensuring leisure activities and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities in the province.
