Seongsan Jin, Mayor of Seongnam, "Complete Reconstruction of Buljeong, Sunae, Geumgok, and Gungnaegyo Culverts"

Seongsan Jin, Mayor of Seongnam, "Complete Reconstruction of Buljeong, Sunae, Geumgok, and Gungnaegyo Culverts" Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin is holding a press conference on the 18th regarding the complete reconstruction of the pedestrian section of the dangerous Tancheon bridge.

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will completely demolish and reconstruct the pedestrian sections of four dangerous bridges along the Tancheon Stream: Buljeonggyo, Sunaegyo, Geumgokgyo, and Gungnaegyo.

On the 18th, Mayor Shin Sang-jin held a press conference at Hannuri Hall in City Hall to announce the 'Complete Reconstruction of Pedestrian Sections of Dangerous Tancheon Bridges.'

Mayor Shin stated, "Since April 6, we have conducted urgent detailed safety inspections on the four bridges?Buljeonggyo, Sunaegyo, Geumgokgyo, and Gungnaegyo?through different inspection companies. The interim results of the urgent detailed safety inspections showed that the cantilever pedestrian sections of Buljeonggyo, Sunaegyo, and Geumgokgyo sagged by 255mm, 192mm, and 220mm respectively, corresponding to a safety grade of E, while Gungnaegyo sagged by 16mm, corresponding to a grade D."

He added, "Although the final results of the urgent detailed safety inspections for 18 Tancheon-crossing bridges (excluding Jeongjagyo) including the four bridges are expected on the 21st, we have decided on complete reconstruction because reinforcing the existing pedestrian sections cannot fundamentally alleviate citizens' concerns."

He continued, "Following urgent safety inspections of 192 bridges across the city, excluding the 19 Tancheon-crossing bridges (including Jeongjagyo), some parts of 151 bridges require repair or reinforcement, but no serious defects were found. For 32 bridges with a so-called cantilever type similar to Jeongjagyo among the 192 bridges, additional detailed safety inspections will be conducted, and measures will be taken based on the inspection results."

Regarding budget procurement, Mayor Shin said, "We have allocated an additional 4 billion KRW in supplementary budget besides 3.5 billion KRW from the Disaster Management Fund for urgent safety measures and detailed safety inspections. These funds will be immediately used for facility safety measures and repairs, and we plan to request budget support from Gyeonggi Province and the central government."
