Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 18th that it will hold the 'Nam-gu Residents' Day' event with Nam-gu residents to express gratitude to the residents who have dedicated themselves to regional development and enhancing autonomous capabilities on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the opening of the Nam-gu Office.
This year's event is expected to be a grand festival of communication and participation that will raise pride among Nam-gu residents and share the vision of the rapidly developing 8th term of the local government, including the opening of Baegun Square era, according to Nam-gu officials.
About 400 people will attend the event, including local residents, Kim Byeong-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, local National Assembly members and local councilors, heads of sister city organizations, past recipients of the Nam-gu Residents Award, and heads of related organizations.
The Nam-gu Residents' Day event will begin at 2:30 p.m. with pre-ceremony congratulatory performances, including four immigrant families in the district performing traditional Indian dance and the pan flute group Pentagon playing musical instruments.
The main event will proceed for about 1 hour and 30 minutes in the order of opening declaration, reading of the Residents' Charter, award ceremony for Nam-gu Residents Award recipients, commemorative speeches and encouragement speeches, congratulatory speeches, and celebratory performances.
In addition, Kim Byeong-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, plans to express his gratitude to the residents united for regional development through a commemorative speech and explain the vision of the 8th term of the local government, which contains the blueprint for the development of Nam-gu.
A Nam-gu official said, "Since its opening in 1995, Nam-gu has achieved steady development in various fields such as economy, education, and culture, emerging as a key area leading Gwangju's economy," adding, "We want to share this honor with the residents who contributed to regional development and community formation."
