A former manager who claimed to have been subjected to power abuse by actor Shin Hyun-joon and threatened him was sentenced to a fine.
On the 17th, Choi Lee-ji, a judge of the Criminal Division 8 at Daejeon District Court, announced that she sentenced A (43), Shin's former manager, who was indicted on charges of intimidation, to a fine of 5 million won.
A was brought to trial on charges of threatening Shin by calling him around February 22, 2021, and sending text messages threatening to post his story on an online community.
It was investigated that he committed the crime out of resentment after failing to obtain unpaid wages from the agency through Shin around the summer of 2020.
Judge Choi stated the sentencing reason, saying, "The victim was reported in the media as a so-called 'power-abusing celebrity' due to the exposure by another road manager and had to leave the programs he was appearing on," adding, "It seems the victim felt severe fear due to the defendant's threats."
She added, "I also considered the unfavorable circumstances after the crime, such as the defendant posting on internet communities after the victim filed a complaint."
