Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province announced that starting from the 17th, when requested by the person responsible for death reporting, a family relations officer will visit two funeral homes within the county to provide a 'Death Report Assistance Service.'
This policy, the first of its kind among local governments nationwide, is a result of considering the characteristics of Yeongyang-gun as a super-aged area where there were only 31 births last year but about 300 deaths.
The main content of the policy is that when the person responsible for death reporting at the funeral home requests it, the head of the family relations team of the city or county will visit to provide assistance in filling out the death report and the integrated application form for deceased property inquiry.
The county has posted notices at funeral homes and is promoting the service through its newsletter and meetings with town and township leaders to ensure many people can use it.
Governor Oh Do-chang said, "In a super-aged area where the number of deaths is nine times that of births, we understand that some residents have difficulties filling out death reports and inheritance property inquiry applications," adding, "We will continue to discover customized civil service policies to contribute to eliminating blind spots in civil services."
