Hemophilia is a congenital bleeding disorder caused by the absence or deficiency of clotting factors in the blood. In 1989, the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) designated April 17 as "World Hemophilia Day" to raise awareness about hemophilia and bleeding disorders.

This campaign involved 235 members working at affiliated companies located in Pangyo, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province?SK Chemicals, SK Gas, SK Bioscience, SK Plasma, and SK D&D?as well as factories in Ulsan, Andong-si in Gyeongbuk, Cheongju-si in Chungbuk, and Pyeongtaek-si in Gyeonggi. They contributed to stabilizing the blood supply. SK Discovery plans to hold more than three blood donation events this year together with its affiliates to continue supporting blood supply stability.

This year, alongside the blood donation campaign, the "Red Tie Challenge" was also conducted centered on SK Plasma to support people with hemophilia. The Red Tie Challenge, initiated in 2016 by the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) in the United States, symbolizes raising awareness of the disorder through the 'red' color representing blood and the 'tie' symbolizing connection.

Not only members at SK Plasma’s headquarters in Pangyo but also employees at SK Plasma and SK Bioscience’s Andong factories, SK Chemicals’ Ulsan and Cheongju factories, and SK Gas Ulsan base held red tie-shaped signs to send messages of support to hemophilia patients.

Lee Yong-seok, Head of ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) at SK Discovery, said, “We will continue to actively practice ESG management by conducting regular blood donation campaigns and supporting hemophilia patients, addressing social issues.”
