In Seokgwan-dong, Seongbuk-gu, beautiful helping hands continue to welcome spring.
The Seokgwan-dong Volunteer Camp’s ‘Yeppeun Son Volunteer Group’ made oi sobagi on the 12th and delivered it to 8 low-income elderly living alone and disabled households in the area, while checking on their well-being.
The beautiful good deeds of the Yeppeun Son Volunteer Group began in 2018 and have continued steadily even during the COVID-19 pandemic. They provide weekly talent donation hair and beauty services for socially marginalized neighbors such as elderly living alone or disabled households with physical difficulties, and regularly deliver happiness boxes consisting of side dishes every month to check on their well-being.
Kim Sunsil, head of the Yeppeun Son Volunteer Group, said, “There are still many elderly living alone and disabled households who are isolated and marginalized in the community. I believe our volunteer group’s role is important in preventing social issues such as solitary deaths by strengthening the care system through regular visits.”
Jung Changseop, head of Seokgwan-dong, said, “I am grateful that the Yeppeun Son Volunteer Group has contributed to spreading a culture of sharing and fostering community spirit through long-term volunteer activities. The Seokgwan-dong Resident Center will also actively cooperate administratively to eliminate welfare blind spots and ensure that helping hands reach every corner.”
