Sister Cities Pohang-si and Gwangyang-si Senior Officials Mutually Participate in Hometown Love Donations

Over 100 Senior Officials Participate, Promoting Donation Culture and Strengthening Win-Win Cooperation

Pohang City and its sister city, Gwangyang City in Jeonnam Province, supported each other's regional development through mutual donations under the Hometown Love Donation Program.

This donation follows the successful establishment of the Hometown Love Donation Program in February and the mutual donations made by Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang and Mayor Jeong In-hwa of Gwangyang to each other's regions to promote friendship between the sister cities. About 100 senior officials from both cities (50 from each city) delivered hometown love donations to each other's cities to spread the donation culture and strengthen win-win cooperation.

Since Pohang City first established a sister city relationship with Gwangyang City in November 1997, the two cities have participated in each other's major festivals and various events, cooperating in diverse fields such as culture, tourism, and sports.

In particular, to support Pohang City's recovery from the severe damage caused by Typhoon Hinnamnor last year, about 40 public officials from Gwangyang City visited the affected areas and carried out various support activities to lend their assistance.

Deputy Mayor Kim Nam-il said, “With the activation of the Hometown Love Donation Program starting this year, we hope to overcome the imbalance with the metropolitan area and contribute to regional development.” He added, “Through this opportunity, we expect the cooperative relationship between the two cities to become stronger and for active exchanges to continue in various fields.”
